Green musical biography ("Their dream comes true! Co-starred... married in their work as in their home!"; ; "A cavalcade in glorious Technicolor"; "Thrill to these beloved melodies!"; about Al Jolson, the famous "blackface" singer, star of the first "talking" picture, "The Jazz Singer"; this was very loosely based on Al Jolson's life; Ruby Keeler, his real-life first wife did not want to be named in the movie, so his wife was the fictitious "Julie Benson") starring Larry Parks (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Al Jolson), Evelyn Keyes (as Julie Benson), William Demarest (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Steve Martin), Bill Goodwin, Scotty Beckett (best remembered as a very young "Our Gang" member and also for this big screen role as Asa Yoelson, the young Al Jolson!), Ludwig Donath (best remembered for playing Al Jolson's father, Cantor Yoelson, in this movie and its sequel), Tamara Shayne (as Mrs. Yoelson), and John Alexander (as Lew Dockstader) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good. All of the cards were stapled in the corners, and four of them had the staples roughly removed, which caused varying amounts of paper loss (see our images). Someone then re-stapled all of the scene cards to heavy black construction paper that is 11" x 14" with a staple in each corner. The cards also had some pinholes and smudges around the edges. The title card is not attached to the construction paper. It has pinholes around the edges and a 1" tear in the bottom border that has tape on the back of it. Anyone (a restorer or anyone else) could easily remove the staples from each corner and then you would have eight cards that are not attached to anything, but of course, you would still have the four with the paper loss around the edges.
