Note that this was part of a campaign by the National Tuberculosis Association to raise funds to fight the spread of disease, which, at the time, was the single most common cause of death in the United States. There were over 700 tuberculosis hospitals in the U.S. alone before the use of antibiotics in the 1940s brought the pandemic under control! Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline).
