If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1952 re-release Japanese poster, which has a completely different artwork image! It is also the only Japanese poster from any release of this movie we have ever auctioned (we previously auctioned a press sheet and a program from the 1952 and 1956 re-releases). We have researched this poster with leading experts on Japanese movies and posters, and they think it is from the first post-World War II release of this movie in Japan, and that it might be the first Japanese re-release, but since all Japanese posters from the 1933 King Kong are extremely rare, no one seems to know for certain! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had pinholes and tiny paper loss in the corners, with some tiny creases and scuffs on the folds. It had some faint stains and smudges scattered in the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame. This rare poster, with a wonderful image, will display incredibly on its new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
