An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Haunted Gold, the 1932 Mack V. Wright ghost town cowboy western ("A 4 Star Western") starring John Wayne, Duke (Wayne's horse), Sheila Terry, Erville Alderson, Harry Woods, Otto Hoffman, Martha Mattox, Blue Washington, and Slim Whitaker NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that John Wayne was NOT a major star (not even a major B-western star) until 1935 when he had switched to Republic Studios. Almost all of the posters for John Wayne movies from before 1935 show an image of Wayne that either looks nothing like him (a generic cowboy image), or the poster artist "misses" capturing his features well, likely because they were unfamiliar with how he looked, or perhaps because they didn't think the public cared if they captured him well or not! The primary exception to this is this one-sheet for "Haunted Gold", one of his six Warner Bros. movies. Not only does the poster perfectly capture how Wayne looked in 1932 (with a great stone litho close up of him!), but the poster also has a black background, very unusual for Warner Bros. posters of this time, which makes the poster all the more striking. All John Wayne collectors agree that this is the best of the early John Wayne posters, and it is a very difficult poster to find, especially in excellent condition! Condition: fine. There is tiny separation at the top and bottom crossfolds. There are the most minor of creases around the edges of the poster. The poster was very lightly folded in half an extra time, but those extra light folds are really not at all noticeable. There are a few very minor creases scattered through the image. Overall, the poster is in really excellent condition, and it has had no restoration of any kind, either on the front or back, not even any tape. Learn More about condition grades
