An Original Vintage Calendar (measures 22" x 46") (Learn More) The Boy Scouts of America (also known as simply the Boy Scouts) is one of the largest scouting organizations and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States. The BSA was founded in 1910, and since then, about 110 million Americans have participated in BSA programs. BSA is part of the international Scout Movement and became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922. The stated mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to "prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law." Artist: Norman Rockwell Important Added Info: Note that, in the 1930s, stores would purchase printed calendars such as this one with a blank bottom area, and then they would create their own calendar, and staple it to the blank area, and then give it or sell it to their customers (often as a Christmas present). This particular calendar was distributed by the "Chas. M. Floyd Co.", a clothing store in Manchester, New Hampshire. Under the stapled-on calendar are three sections which are "The Scout Oath", "The Scout Law", and "An Army of Friendship" (which explains exactly which countries' flags are on the border of the poster). It also tells that the poster was published by "Brown & Bigelow" in 1933. Condition: very good to fine. Calendars such as this one were distributed with thin metal strips at the top and bottom (so that the calendar would lay flat against the wall). Both metal strips are present. There are a few creases, tears, and tiny areas of surface paper loss around the edges of the poster, but the bulk of the calendar is in excellent condition, including the entire area of Rockwell art. The stapled calendar at the bottom of the poster has only the November and December months still attached (it was obviously used through the first ten months of the year). Under the two months (which are stapled to the poster), the poster is also in nice condition. This poster was never folded (it was sent rolled in a tube the the poster exchange, and then to the theater, if it was used in a theater). The poster has survived in nice condition, but has a few VERY minor imperfections. We may have written just a few words about those imperfections, but we may not have, as they are very minor. You should look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster, which will confirm just how nice this poster is! Learn More about condition grades
