An Original Vintage Theatrical Austrian Movie Sheet Music (measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) Das Kabinett des Doktor Caligari (released in the U.S. in 1921 and in England in 1924 as "The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari"), the 1920 Robert Wiene German expressionism silent horror thriller ("A thrilling fantastic photo-play"; about a man who sleepwalks in a disturbing world and there is a mysterious Dr. Caligari who seems to be his arch enemy!) starring Werner Krauss (in the title role as Doctor Caligari), Conrad Veidt (as Cesare, the somnambulist), Friedrich Feher, Lil Dagover, and Hans Heinrich von Twardowski. Note that this movie is considered by many to be the first major horror movie ever. Much of the movie takes place within the dreams of the sleepwalker, and the sets are distorted to reflect his distorted mind (they were made of paper and the shadows were painted on to the paper!) Artist: Marcel Vertes Important Added Info: Note that this movie was an international sensation when it was released in 1920, and a "Caligari Foxtrot" was composed by Otto Weber! This Austrian sheet music for this song has wonderful colorful surreal art by Marcel Vertes on the cover. It was published in Austria, but this particular example was used in Hungary, because there is a Hungarian distributor stamp on the bottom right of the cover and on the bottom right of the back cover. For those collectors wanting to get a poster from this classic movie (which are both insanely expensive and almost nonexistent), this Austrian sheet music would make a great addition to their collection. It could be framed and displayed and of course, one could use the interior five pages to play the song, and get your friends dancing the "Caligari Foxtrot" along with you! Condition: very good. There is a 3/4" tear in the lower right border of the cover and some smudges and stains around the edges. The pages have slightly darkened around the edges. Learn More about condition grades
