An Original 1937 Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Lonely Road (released in the U.S. in 1937 as "Scotland Yard Commands"), the 1936 James Flood English England romantic crime detective mystery weapons smuggling drunk driving action thriller ("He defied the underworld - and Scotland Yard for a Girl!"; "Scotland Yard had given him orders to bring in the desperate criminals - 'dead or alive!'... Only the girl he loved could track them down."; "'Bring them in - dead or alive!' He was compelled to spy on the girl he loved - to track them down!"; based on the novel by Nevil Shute, author of "On the Beach") starring Clive Brook, Victoria Hopper, Nora Swinburne, Malcolm Keen, and Cecil Ramage. Note that female lead Victoria Hopper was a stage actress who was married to film director Basil Dean, and appeared in a dozen movies in the 1930s, but after they divorced, she starred in no more movies. We have only previously auctioned a half-sheet, five lobby cards, a herald, and a Danish poster from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had creases, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds and pinholes and some faint stains in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
