Stein English romantic crime murder mystery melodrama (based on the play by Richard Llewellyn; about a small English town whose residents begin receiving hate-filled poison pen letters, and the town becomes scandalized) starring Flora Robson, Robert Newton, Ann Todd, Reginald Tate, and Geoffrey Toone. Note that this movie was released in England in 1939. Republic Pictures bought the rights to it in 1941, and they released it with a poster that made it look as though it was their own release, and they "cheated" quite a bit on the poster, because the movie is set in a small English town, but the poster shows New York skyscrapers in the background! The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and creases, tears, and areas of paper loss scattered on parts of many foldlines, with some long tears and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster, extending into the image. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
