An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Very Idea, the 1929 Frank Craven & Richard Rosson family relationship adoption Eugenics comedy melodrama (about a rich couple who are strong advocates of Eugenics, and they are unable to have a baby, so they want to hire a couple who are perfect physical specimens to have a baby in return for $15,000, which they will then give to the rich couple to raise as their own, but things don't work out as intended) starring Frank Craven, Hugh Trevor, Sally Blane, Olive Tell, Allen Kearns, and Doris Eaton. Note that Eugenics was popularized in the 1920s. It compared the breeding of people to the breeding of animals, and it felt that you could quickly make a race of super humans if you used "selective breeding" to improve the race. Of course, in the 1930s, Adolf Hitler seized on this idea with his plans for a perfect Aryan race, and that ended all talk of Eugenics. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
