An Original Vintage Stage Play Herald (measures 5" x 7" [13 x 18 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More)

Shufflin' Sam From Alabam, the 1920s musical black African American minstrel vaudeville stage play production ("The musical comedy success"; "25 plantation raised jazz hounds"; "Creole Chorus"; "Seven Dancin' Streaks"; "The jazziest jambouree [sic] of them all"; "Fast steppin struttin - prancin - babies from Dixie Land"; "Creole chorus with a palm beach tan..."; "With a chorus of nut brown vamps."; "Grand revival of plantation melodys [sic] and jubilee singing"; "Late dance craze Black Bottom and Alabama Stomp"; "America's greatest colored organization"). The only item from this we have ever auctioned is a herald, and that is undated, but it references that the show played on "Friday March 9". There was one of those in 1923, in 1928 and in 1934, and our best guess is that it is from one of those three years. If anyone knows more about this stage play, please e-mail us and we will post it here.~
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this herald, and the buyer of that example has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still the only example of this herald we have ever auctioned!

Condition: good to very good.
