An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) Scrappy's Party, the 1933 Dick Huemer animated cartoon comedy short ("Screenland's Lovable Imp in a new and hilarious laugh comic!"; "Produced by Charles Mintz"). This was a really marvelous cartoon, because Scrappy's birthday party is attended by the greatest group of celebrities of that time including Mussolini, John D. Rockefeller, Will Rogers, Laurel & Hardy, George Bernard Shaw, Jimmy Durante, King George V, Mahatma Ghandi, Babe Ruth, Al Capone (who couldn't attend because he was behind bars!), and others. It is interesting that they made a specific one-sheet for this short (often, cartoon characters at this time only received "stock" one-sheets), but they did not put any of the celebrities on the poster. Note that Scrappy was a cartoon character (he was a human boy, which was unusual at a time when cartoons were dominated by talking animals) distributed by Columbia Pictures at the same time they distributed the Krazy Kat cartoons. He first appeared in 1931, and was in many cartoons in the early 1930s, but then slowly he faded away until his final cartoon in 1941. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this one-sheet, and that was 6 years ago, when it sold for $836. The buyer of that poster has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the right half of the top horizontal fold and in the top quarter of the vertical foldline, with some creases just above the top crossfold. There was minor wear on the other foldlines and some pinholes and tiny paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
