An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47" x 62 3/4") (Learn More) Our Gang was a long-running series of kids movies, started in 1922 by Hal Roach, and continuing for the next 20 years, with an ever changing cast (as the kids grew too old!). Among the best remembered cast members were George 'Spanky' McFarland, Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer, Scotty Beckett (who later played the young Al Jolson in "The Jolson Story"), Billie 'Buckwheat' Thomas, Stymie Beard, Darla Hood, Sunshine Sammy Morrison, Jackie Cooper, and many others! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a French one-panel stock poster apparently created to be used by theaters showing "Our Gang" movies in the 1920s or 1930s (we don't know the exact date it was created). Theaters would use the blank area at the bottom to either write in the name of a specific short they were showing, or to write in the play dates, or both (or they could print that information on a snipe and glue it to that area). Note that this poster is a great stone litho with art by Helorit (spelling?)! If anyone knows more about this poster or when it was created, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of some foldlines, and some tears and tiny paper loss in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
