An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded German Movie Poster (measures 37 1/4" x 56 3/4") (Learn More) Die Jagd nach dem Gluck (translates to "The Pursuit of Happiness"), the 1930 Rochus Gliese & Lotte Reiniger German early animation romantic melodrama (about a shadow puppet troupe that has fallen on hard times, and the daughter of the owner and his assistant have a new invention that is a new kind of projector that will save the show, but the father is stubborn and refuses to try it, and the movie included a 20 minute silhouette shadow puppet performance by Lotte Reiniger, who is considered one of the inventors of modern animated film) starring Catherine Hessling (Jean Renoir's real life wife), Alexander Murski, Amy Wells, Berthold Bartosch, and Jean Renoir (the great French director of "Grand Illusion" and "Rules of the Game", in one of the eleven movies he acted in before he became a director!). Apparently, this film had the misfortune of being shot as a silent movie, and by the time it was ready for release, silent movies were pretty dead, so the producers had all of the performances dubbed, and they used different actors, which hurts the movie. We found reference to the 20-minute portion of this movie being reused in a later movie called "Running After Luck", but we could find no trace of that movie, and that in fact may be the original English language title of this movie, and that reviewer could have been confused. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a country of origin poster for this German movie. Also note that the poster has an artist's signature on it, but we cannot make it out in the slightest. If anyone knows the name of this artist, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. The poster has separation, some tiny tears, and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some foldlines. It is somewhat fragile. But after a simple linenbacking, the poster will look wonderful! Learn More about condition grades
