An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/4" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Das Frauenhaus Von Rio (released in the U.S. as "Girls For Sale"), the 1927 Bud Pollard & Hans Steinhoff German silent Rio de Janeiro Brazil white slavery prostitution melodrama (based on the novel by Jacques Norbert; about men in Rio de Janeiro who lure young European women to Brazil with promises of work as showgirls or nightclub singers, but then they are forced into a lifetime of prostitution, and are held as virtual slaves) starring Vivian Gibson, Albert Steinruck, Hans Stuwe, Ernst Deutsch, and Robert Scholz. Note that "white slavery" as described in this movie has been around for hundreds of years. In the early days of film-making, movies were made on this subject, and there is always public outcry against the practice, but it continues to the present day all over the world, so this movie is as timely now as it was in 1927. Note that the IMDb says that this movie was released in many countries, including Germany, Brazil, the U.S., and others, but we have never seen any movie paper from it other than two different Swedish posters! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had some tiny tears in the upper left border and very tiny paper loss in the top right blank corner. It had a few faint creases scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
