Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss at the top two crossfolds with small paper loss at the bottom crossfold. It had creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss scattered on the foldlines. There were pinholes, tears, and some paper loss around the edges (see our super-sized image for a really good sense of what defects this poster had and the restoration that was performed). Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and from any reasonable viewing distance, it displays well, but when you look at it close up, you can see signs of the defects it had and the restoration that was performed.
