Date Sold 12/5/2013Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Linenbacked Advertising Poster (measures 30 1/4" x 40 1/2" [77 x 103 cm]) (Learn More) Sapolio was a brand of soap founded in 1869 by Enoch Morgan's Sons Co. The brand is noted for its advertising campaigns and Time magazine described Sapolio as "probably the world's best-advertised product" in its heyday. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had three vertical foldlines with some creases and small tears in the top of the middle vertical fold and some tears and light stains in some parts of the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
