5000 Danish Seamen Sailing for United Nations, the 1940s English World War II (WWII) poster announcing that 5000 Danish sailors (and Danish ships) were joining the war against the Axis powers. Note that Denmark was occupied by Germany in April of 1940, and many Danish sailors joined the allied war efforts. Over 1000 Danish merchant sailors lost their lives during the war, most to submarine attacks.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had a 2" tear near the middle of the right border and a 1/2" tear in the lower right border, with some creases and faint brown stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed onto a thin linen with no excess and no restoration was performed.
