'The Prince and the Showgirl'"; "Some countries have a medal for Everything"; "A Film by Marilyn Monroe Pictures Inc."; "Screen Play by Terence Rattigan"; about a showgirl in a mythical European country, who causes scandal when a prince tries to seduce her) starring Marilyn Monroe (in the title role as Elsie), Laurence Olivier (in the title role as the Prince Regent), Sybil Thorndike, Richard Wattis, David Horne, Jeremy Spenser, Jean Kent, Vera Day, and Margot Lister NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Richard Avedon Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had paper loss at each crossfold, with creases, small tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of several folds, more so on the bottom horizontal fold. It had some tears and stains at top center, affecting the "ro" of "Monroe" and the background above it. It had an irregular 1 1/2" tear in Monroe's dress, just above Olivier's hand, and a 5" tear in the bottom of Monroe's dress, with a 6" diagonal tear at the bottom of the dress, running to the bottom border. It had pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges, and a few scattered in the image. The poster was likely displayed prior to being backed, and the red colors of the poster have faded somewhat. It had a few brown stains in the right of the bottom credits area. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, given its defects, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
