An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 18" x 23" [46 x 58 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Girl on the Barge, the 1929 Edward Sloman family relationship romantic melodrama ("It's a Universal"; "Story by Rupert Hughes"; a wacky tearjerker, about the daughter of a mean alcoholic barge captain, and she falls in love with a kindly tugboat pilot, and her father beats her, but ultimately, of course, their barge is sinking, and they are rescued by the tugboat pilot, and in the end, the father quits drinking, and the movie ends with his daughter and her husband showing him his newborn grandson) starring Jean Hersholt, Sally O'Neil, Malcolm McGregor (billed as "Malcolm MacGregor"), Morris Mackintosh, and Nancy Kelly NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good, NO CUTS. The pressbook was folded like a one-sheet, resulting in many creases throughout, and there are separations and tears at the ends of some of those folds.
