Also note that Joe Louis, who had a cameo role in the movie, playing himself, is prominently pictured on this poster, with a great image of him in boxing trunks and gloves! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss and tears at the crossfolds, with some creases, small tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of the folds. It had pinholes and smudges around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, and after the poster was backed, it acquired some tiny surface paper loss in the bottom of the second "A" of "PALOOKA". Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
