Zanuck; about a mentally ill schizophrenic woman who is placed in a mental institution, quite daring for its time, and one of the few movies ever to give an accurate portrayal of schizophrenia and its treatment at that time; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Olivia De Havilland (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mark Stevens, Leo Genn, Celeste Holm, Glenn Langan, Helen Craig, Leif Erickson, Beulah Bondi, Lee Patrick, Howard Freeman, Natalie Schafer, Ruth Donnelly, Katherine Locke, Frank Conroy, and Minna Gombell. Note that Betsy Blair has an important minor role as a mute patient who talks at the film's conclusion, and also note that Jan Clayton sings the song "Going Home" at a dance in the movie (this was the song that was played at FDR's funeral, and was based on both Negro spirituals and music of Antonin Dvorak). Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away earlier this year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca. Condition: good to very good. There are a few small tears in the lower left edge that have been repaired with tape from the back and a few creases scattered in various areas. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards).
