An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Chinese Cat, the 1944 Phil Rosen Asian detective mystery crime thriller ("Suggested by Earl Derr Biggers' Character") starring Sidney Toler ("as Charlie Chan"), Mantan Moreland, Joan Woodbury, Benson Fong (as Tommy Chan, #3 Son), Ian Keith, Betty Blythe, Anthony Warde, and I. Stanford Jolley. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! Finally, note that, for unknown reasons, first release movie paper from this one 1940s Charlie Chan movie is incredibly rare, maybe even more rare than any of the 1930s titles! Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has small separation and a tiny tear at lower right and both areas are backed with some tape. There is a line of faint scuffing above the lower horizontal fold and there is minor fold wear. There is approximately 1 1/2" of separation at the right edge of the center horizontal fold. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and after a simple backing the poster will look great! Learn More about condition grades
