2 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Dark Manhattan, the 1937 Harry L. Fraser & Ralph Cooper black African American New York City gangster crime action thriller ("Ralph Cooper in The Smashing Underworld Melodrama") starring Ralph Cooper (billed here as "Harlem's Own"), Clarence Brooks, Nick Stewart (billed here as "Nicodemus"), Cleo Herndon, Jess Lee Brooks, Sam McDaniel, "and an All-Star Colored Cast". In 1938, George Randol Productions was founded by George Randol, who was a black actor who had appeared in a few earlier movies, including The Green Pastures and Harlem on the Prairie the two preceding years. In 1937, he wrote and produced this movie (he was even incorrectly credited as the director on some advertising), and that led him to form his own company and make Rhythm Rodeo in 1938, Double Deal in 1939, and then Midnight Shadow, also in 1939. That was his final movie that he was connected with in any way, and we don't know why his career came to a screeching halt, but he lived for decades more, passing away in 1973. Condition: good to very good. Both cards have some water staining in the borders and that has caused some paper loss in portions of the borders (see our images). The images are in pretty nice condition.
