An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) King Solomon of Broadway, the 1935 Alan Crosland New York City theater stage play musical romantic melodrama ("Hear... These tantalizing tunes: That's What You Think, Flower In My Lapel, Moanin' In The Moonlight, La Cabanna (Rumba)") starring Edmund Lowe, Dorothy Page, Pinky Tomlin, Edward Pawley (billed as "ED. Pawley"), Louise Henry, and Charles Grapewin. Dorothy Page had a very interesting background! She married a doctor in 1925 when she was 21, and in the early 1930s, they were struggling, and she auditioned for Paul Whiteman, and became a singer with his band. In 1935, she was signed by Universal and appeared in two movies, but they dropped her. In 1937, Grand National, which was on the verge of bankruptcy after their disastrous loss on Something to Sing About, signed her to become "The Singing Cowgirl", and they made four movies with her over two years, but those did not do well, and the series was killed. She had several marriages and personal misfortunes, and she passed away in 1961 at the age of 57. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears and fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines, and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above (any restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
