Date Sold 2/20/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Camera Original Vintage Color 4x5 Transparency (measure 4" x 5" [10 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) Roy Rogers (often referred to as the "King of the Cowboys") is considered one of the all-time top cowboy western actors (he started in the 1930s and worked in film until the 1950s) and was nearly always accompanied by his equally famous horse, Trigger. His top roles include Pecos Bill, Son of Paleface, Disney's Melody Time, King of the Cowboys, and Don't Fence Me In! AND Dale Evans was an actress certainly best remembered as Roy Rogers' on screen and off screen co-star, but she had a really unusual life! She was married at 14 in 1926 and had a baby the following year, and by 1936, she had divorced her third husband, at which point she embarked on a musical career (she was only 26). She found success as a recording star and then got some film roles, and in 1944, she co-starred opposite Roy Rogers, and two years later, his wife passed away, and she divorced her husband, and the two married and starred in many movies together, along with their hit TV show. Important Added Info: Camera original color 4x5 transparency of this legendary western couple. Exhibits color shift. A properly calibrated scan is included to show how gorgeous this can look despite the color shift to red. 1 of 4 being listed. Note that this the transparency film that was in the camera when the photographer shot the photo (see below for more on this). What is a transparency? They are produced by the studio and are very high quality and were created in quantity and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). A clear border around a 4x5 transparency denotes duplication from a negative source, a black border denotes duplication from a positive source. This transparency is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed it and scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is). It will be sent to the winner of the auction in the plastic sleeve. The coloring of the transparency has changed over the years, and our consignor prepared a "color corrected" version (through PhotoShop), and we have an image of the transparency as it appears alongside the color corrected version, but of course, the auction is for a single transparency. Condition: good to very good. Has studio reference number written in white at top. The color of the transparency has changed from how it originally was, but otherwise, it is in nice condition. We have supplied a second image that is "color corrected" to look as it originally was (see above). Learn More about condition grades
