An Original 1937 Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12" x 18" [30 x 46 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) Sabotage (released in the U.S. in 1937 both under its original title and as "The Woman Alone"), the 1936 Alfred Hitchcock English detective mystery crime suspense thriller ("From the novel by Joseph Conrad"; about a group of saboteurs who are causing damage in London, and one of their gang runs a movie theater as a cover, and his wife and her brother help him run it, but they know nothing about the sabotage, and Scotland Yard sends a man to work next door to the theater to catch the gang) starring Sylvia Sidney (billed as "*courtesy of Walter Wanger Productions Inc."), Oscar Homolka, John Loder, Desmond Tester, Joyce Barbour, and William Dewhurst NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this pressbook, and that was 7 years ago (that example was only in "fair" condition and it sold for $427)! Also note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 47 mostly United Artists pressbooks (mostly from the 1930s) that came from the collection of a very longtime collector who recently passed away. Pressbooks like these are almost all incredibly rare and almost never change hands. This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain one or more of these extremely rare pressbooks, all of which are uncut, and several of them have rare supplements or heralds (and if they do, that is noted above). Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. Note that we solely give an overall grade to these rare pressbooks, and tell you whether it is complete and uncut. However, you can view our multiple images of the covers and the interior pages that should give you a good sense of the pressbook's condition. The covers are separated at the spine.
