An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Black Narcissus, the 1947 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger English religious Catholic relationship melodrama ("A story to storm your heart!"; "Drama at the top of the world... where the winds of the exotic past sweep men and women to a strange and fascinating adventure..."; "Adapted from the novel by Rumer Godden"; "Written Produced and Directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger"; about nuns setting up convent in the Himalayas) starring Deborah Kerr (billed on English posters as "[By arrangement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer]"; billed on U.S. posters as "M.G.M. star of 'Hucksters' fame"), Sabu, David Farrar, Flora Robson, Esmond Knight, Jean Simmons, and Kathleen Byron. Note that this movie included some partially built sets that were completed through the judicious use of a matte painting, and the famous "cliff scene" was also filmed with the use of a matte painting! Important Added Info: Note that this classic Powell & Pressburger English movie was released in the U.S. by Universal Studios in 1947, but very few posters survive from that release. We had a one-sheet from that release 10 years ago, but no other U.S. posters at any time! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had paper loss at the middle crossfold, small paper loss at the bottom crossfold, and tiny paper loss at the top crossfold. There was minor wear on the foldlines. There was a triangular area of paper loss in the top right corner that cut into the red and blue areas. There were pinholes and paper loss in the bottom two corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
