Date Sold 12/26/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Charge of the Light Brigade, the classic 1936 Michael Curtiz English-in-India romantic love triangle Crimean War action thriller ("Into the Valley of Death rode the six hundred"; very loosely based on the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson; Flynn is an English officer in India, and the Indians massacre a group of English soldiers, and then retreat to their stronghold, assuming the English will not dare attempt to retaliate, but Flynn's character ignores his orders and leads his men on a suicide mission!) starring Errol Flynn, Olivia De Havilland, Patric Knowles, Henry Stephenson, Nigel Bruce, Donald Crisp, David Niven, Robert Barrat, J. Carrol Naish, Scotty Beckett, and C. Henry Gordon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this title card, and the last one was 17 years ago, when it sold for $2,938! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has darkened somewhat, typical of Warner Bros. linen lobby cards of this period, but it is not at all fragile, which is very unusual, and a big plus! Something caused it to acquire light horizontal "waves", but they are not creases. It has a faint vertical stain above the "F" of "FLYNN" and an even fainter one above the "H" at the top center of the card, with a more noticeable diagonal one running from the top of the card into the same "H". It has two small faint stains in the bottom blank border and slight faint staining in the lower left border next to the letters. While I would think many collectors could display this great card just as it is, it would seem to be a wonderful candidate for restoration. That is because I would think a restorer could cause it to lay completely flat (perhaps without even backing it), and touch up could be added to the faint stains, if the new owner desired. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
