A Group Of 8 Original Vintage Photographic Transparencies (measure 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" [7 x 7 cm]) (Learn More) Elke Sommer (born Elke Schletz) is a sexy blonde German actress from the 1950s to the present. She was born in 1940 and her father was a Lutheran minister, but sadly he died when she was just 14. Her mother let her go to England when she was just 16 to be an au pair to an actress, and the following year director Vittorio De Sica discovered her and she was in movies when she was 17. Some of her movies include: A Shot in the Dark, The Victors, The Prize, The Wrecking Crew, and The Money Trap. She memorably had pictorials in the September 1964 and December 1967 issues of Playboy magazine. She moved back to Germany in the 1980s, and continued to act there, in both movies and on TV. She much later moved to Los Angeles and as of 2023 is still alive at the age of 83! Important Added Info: Note that our consignor purchased these transparencies from the Eastman Labs in New York (the company did much printing for studios, and they sold some transparencies and negatives after they were done with them). Also note that this (or these, in the case of multiple transparencies) was created by and sent by the studio that produced this (in the year noted on this auction) to newspapers, magazines, TV stations, or reviewers, so that they could use them to create the highest quality ads. They can be used to make very high quality reproductions, but bear in mind that we are solely auctioning the physical transparencies and NOT the right to reproduce them, so unless they are public domain, the new owner must acquire the rights elsewhere before reproducing them. There are some transparencies in this set of auctions that were NOT created by studios, but those are very clearly marked. Also, note that we not only took a photograph (or photographs) of how these items appear, but we also scanned them as well, so that you can see the actual images (and how high quality they are). In the case of this lot, because there are more than 4 transparencies, we only scanned 4 of them, but the winner will receive EIGHT transparencies. Condition: very good to fine.
