Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this three-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the top left crossfold (in the blue background), with tiny paper loss at some of the other crossfolds. It had some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had some pencil marks at the bottom of Colman's foot (the one that is higher than the other). Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone backed the poster well, but they left alone the pencil marks described above (or possibly they were added to the poster after it was backed, which would be very sad). They are not very noticeable or distracting, and of course, they can be easily touched up by a restorer without re-backing the poster, and other than this odd defect, the poster had generally survived in overall really nice condition (see our image).
