She had a memorable role as the spinster "Aunt Trina" in 1948's I Remember Mama (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film). Some of her other movies include: The Hal Roach Comedy Carnival, Little Women, and Support Your Local Gunfighter. In the 1950s, she started doing television, and she had a major role as Myrt "Hubcaps" Lesh in the "Barney's New Car" episode of The Andy Griffith Show in 1960. However, she will always be best remembered as "Grandma" on TV's "The Waltons". She passed away in 1999 at the age of 87.
