She worked in the subscription department of Playboy in its second year, and Hugh Hefner saw her and offered to make her a Playmate in July of 1955! She agreed, and the magazine's readers loved her, and she appeared twice more in the magazine (in December 1955 and October 1956), but she refused to work as a model for other magazines. She continued working at Playboy for the next ten years (as the Head of Reader Services), and at one time, Hefner offered anyone who bought a lifetime subscription to Playboy a personal phone call with Miss Pilgrim! Janet passed away in 2017 at the age of 82. Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Janet Pilgrim! Note that this is from a collection we were consigned that all came from a man named Ernest Hack, who wrote to celebrities during the 1930s to the 1970s. Most of them are entirely handwritten by the celebrities, and while our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, we feel certain they are all authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
