An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) They Gave Him a Gun, the 1937 W.S. Van Dyke (billed on some posters as "W.S. Van Duke II") World War I (WWI) military crime melodrama ("Biggest thrill since 'The Big Parade!'"; "Screen play by Cyril Hume, Richard Maibaum and Maurice Rapf"; about a soldier who wins a medal for his shooting, but becomes a gangster afterwards) starring Spencer Tracy, Gladys George, Franchot Tone, Edgar Dearing, Mary Treen, and Cliff Edwards NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of the director "giving instructions to his army" on this war movie! Also note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. This was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby (and of course, the snipe would be folded backwards, so it would not show). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! Condition: very good. There are stains in the top of the left blank border and in the right of the top blank border, but otherwise, the still is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
