An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Hollow Triumph, the 1948 Steve Sekely mistaken identity gambling crime film noir melodrama ("His scar marked them both!!!"; "From the novel, 'Hollow Triumph,' by Murray Forbes"; about a criminal who is on the run from the law, and he happens on a psychiatrist who is his exact double, except for a scar on his face, and the criminal must give himself a scar that matches the psychiatrist's, but he is looking at a photo when he is doing so, and because the photo is printed in a mirror image, he puts the scar on the wrong side of his face!; amazingly, no one notices the scar in the wrong place, including the psychiatrist's secretary/lover, but ultimately, he is found out!) starring Paul Henreid, Joan Bennett, Eduard Franz, Leslie Brooks, John Qualen, Mabel Paige, and Herbert Rudley. Note that this movie opened in August of 1948, and apparently did not do too well on its first release. In 1949, it was re-titled "The Scar", and a very similar one-sheet was created, with the second title, but there are other slight differences between the two one-sheets as well. In the past, we have always seen the posters from "The Scar" called alternate releases, and we know that there was a 1949 re-packaging of the movie under the new title (and there may have been edits to the film, but we know that the movie WAS released under both titles in 1948 as well). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this movie was released in 1948 under two different names, and two very similar one-sheets were created, one with each title, but there are other slight differences between the two. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and minor wear on the foldlines. It had some pinholes and smudges around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
