An Original Vintage French Campaign Book (measures 9 3/4" x 12" [25 x 30 cm]; 88 pages) (Learn More)

Franco 1929-30, the 1929 French campaign book featuring images and information about upcoming films from Franco Film. While this covers many movies released in France that year, it contains publicity on three really important movies: Alfred Hitchcock's Downhill, Pandora's Box (starring Louise Brooks), and I Kiss Your Hand Madame (starring Marlene Dietrich, which she made in Germany BEFORE "The Blue Angel"). For almost every movie, the book has a 4-page color advertisement, and interspersed between those 4-page ads are black & white portraits of top French stars, and those pages are perforated at the spine, so they could be removed and displayed by theater owners. This is a remarkably rare campaign book (we have auctioned a loose page of part of the Pandora's Box ad, but no other ads, and never another example of this book).

Important Added Info: Note that, because they will surely have the most collector interest, we pictured all of the pages of the ads for the three movies described above, plus just a few other pages. Note: We have 11 images of the campaign books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 11 images are displayed above. Condition: very good. The book has felt covers and they have scuffing on them. The interior pages are generally in pretty nice condition. See our many images to get a good sense of the condition of this campaign book.
