Mankiewicz"; "Titles by Joe Farnham"; about a former sea captain whose wife died during childbirth; he gave the child to his brother, a priest, to raise her, and he is now a brothel owner and a crook, and his daughter does not know that; he has a partner who is much more respectable, and the daughter falls in love with the partner, and that causes a falling out between the two men!) starring Lon Chaney Sr. (as Singapore Joe, the disfigured leader of the gang), Lois Moran, Owen Moore, Henry B. Walthall, Sojin, Rose Langdon, John George, Willie Fung, and Eddie Sturgis. Note that this is a partially "lost" film which means that no surviving complete copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still has a stamp on the back that reads "JAMES CARD COLLECTION". James Card was a film preservationist who, starting in 1948, worked at the newly created George Eastman House in Rochester, New York, and he helped build their massive motion picture collection, preserving movies that had been forgotten at that time. In 1955, he discovered that Louise Brooks was living as a recluse in New York City, and he persuaded her to move to Rochester, where she wrote many letters and some books about her legendary career! Condition: very good. There are a few tiny creases and tears in the blank borders, with four tiny circular stains in the middle right of the image background, but they are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light.
