Date Sold 12/18/2004Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 8 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, the 1943 Roy William Neill Universal monster horror thriller (the fifth Universal Frankenstein movie) starring Ilona Massey (as Baroness Elsa Frankenstein), Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the Frankenstein Monster), Lionel Atwill, Maria Ouspenskaya, Rex Evans, Dwight Frye, Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as the Wolf Man; "Lon Chaney in his most terrifying role"; "Lon Chaney as The Wolfman"), Dennis Hoey, Jeff Corey, Doris Lloyd, Adia Kuznetzoff, Martha Vickers (billed as "Martha MacVicar" in her first movie), Gil Perkins (who doubled for Bela Lugosi in some action scenes), and Eddie Parker (who doubled for Lon Chaney Jr. in some action scenes). Note that in this movie, Bela Lugosi took over the role of the Frankenstein monster which had been played by Lon Chaney Jr. in the previous movie, because Lon Chaney Jr. reprised his role of the Wolf Man, which he had created in the 1941 Universal classic! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: NOTE: In this case, the #2 in the title of the sale is not the number of the lobby card. Because we are selling more than one lobby card from this movie this week as separate eBay sales, we needed to differentiate the different sales, and we did so by marking them "#1, #2, #3, etc..". Condition: good to very good. there was paper loss in the bottom left blank corner; someone took a large piece of white paper and glued it to the reverse of the bottom left and then put tape on the front and back of the bottom left corner to try to give it the illusion of repairing the missing area; they also put tape on the front and back of the top right corner and on the back of the top left corner to repair paper loss caused by pinholes; there is surface paper loss in the bottom right blank corner and there is a piece of tape behind that; there was a 1 1/2" tear in the bottom of the center of the card and there is tape on the back of that; there is a 1/2" tear in the middle of the right border; there is tiny paper loss in the middle of the left border; there are multiple pinholes, creases, and a few tiny stains around the edges of the card; the actual central image area has only a few very minor defects, and is completely unrestored. Given the somewhat amateurish nature of the "restoration", I would think that most collectors would have a top professional repair this card's many minor border defects, after which it would look wonderful, and it would have truly had little actual restoration anywhere in the image area!
