Date Sold 2/2/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1948 Re-Release (re-titled "Betrayed" for this re-release) Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) When Strangers Marry (released in France as "Betrayed"), the 1944 William Castle New York City romantic crime film noir ("Original story by George V. Moscov"; the old plot of a naive girl who marries a stranger, goes off with him, and discovers he is "not what he seems to be", and may even be a murderer!; even though many movies have that plot, this movie has been called "the finest B-movie ever made" by film historian Don Miller, even more remarkable because it was filmed in just ten days, and much of the credit must go to director William Castle, in one of his earliest movies!) starring Dean Jagger, Robert Mitchum (billed as "Bob Mitchum"), Kim Hunter (in her third movie and her first starring role!), Neil Hamilton, and Dick Elliott NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that after Robert Mitchum achieved great stardom in 1947 in "Out of the Past", the studios pulled out all of the movie he had made previously, and re-released them as "Robert Mitchum movies"! In the case of this movie, he had been the second billed star (as "Bob Mitchum"), and this movie was re-titled "Betrayed" and re-released, and that re-release likely helped the Hollywood career of Kim Hunter, who had her first major part in this movie, and who had gone to Broadway, where she was starring in "A Streetcar Named Desire" with Marlon Brando when this movie was released! Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections. Condition: very good to fine. There is some darkening on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded, but it has little effect on the front, and otherwise, the poster is in pretty good condition.
