Alfred Hitchcock is perhaps the most famous English director of all-time, directing many groundbreaking and classic movies from 1921 to 1976. He would often appear briefly in his own movies as a gag. Some of his movies include: Rear Window (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), North By Northwest, Psycho (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Vertigo, Strangers on a Train, Notorious, Rebecca (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Shadow of a Doubt, The 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes, The Birds, Dial M for Murder, Lifeboat (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Spellbound, The Man Who Knew Too Much (he made this one TWICE!), The Trouble with Harry, and many, many more! AND Francois Truffaut was a French actor, writer, and director from the 1950s to the 1980s. He was a French film critic who made his first movie, "Les Quatre cents coups" (The 400 Blows), about his troubled childhood, and together with Godard, they gave birth to the French "New Wave". Some of his other movies include: Fahrenheit 451, Jules et Jim, A Bout De Souffle, and he had a memorable acting role in Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Important Added Info: Note that this great still, which measures 8 1/4" x 9 3/4" [21 x 25 cm], shows Francois Truffaut surprising Alfred Hitchcock at his 75th birthday party. Note that there is a snipe from Universal on the back that was created when the still was created in 1974, and then there is a clipping and a stamp from when the still was reused in 1979 and in 1981.
