An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French Movie Poster (measures 21" x 29 1/2") (Learn More) The Last Command, the 1928 Josef von Sternberg silent Russia historical military adventure melodrama (about a Russian general for the Czar's army who lives in poverty after he has fought on the losing side, and an old enemy hires him to play himself in a movie version of the Russian Revolution!) starring Emil Jannings (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; the award was also for his performance in the 1927 film The Way of All Flesh, and this was the only year that multiple roles were considered), Evelyn Brent, William Powell, Jack Raymond, and Fritz Feld NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: D. Olere Important Added Info: Note that this French poster measures 21" x 29 1/2" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster was folded once horizontally and once vertically. There was a water stain in the horizontal foldline 2" to the left of the crossfold and there were creases and tiny areas of paper loss along both foldlines. There was small paper loss at the center of the top border, and pinholes in the corners. The poster was pretty much backed as is, although the restorer put a new piece of paper in the middle of the top border. Learn More about condition grades
