An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Jumbo Lobby Card (measures 14" x 17") (Learn More) Weary River, the 1929 Frank Lloyd (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) prison crime rehabilitation music songwriting melodrama ("Richard Barthelmess puts his soul to music in Weary River"; it seems like an early gangster movie, but with a really unusual twist; Barthelmess is a gangster and Compson is his girl, and he goes to prison, and while there, he discovers a talent for songwriting, and when he is released, he writes a hit song, and his girlfriend stays away from him for fear of causing him to relapse into crime, but when he might make a terrible decision, she returns and steers him straight; this may sound very far fetched, but it was based on a real life story!) starring Richard Barthelmess, Betty Compson, William Holden (no, not THAT William Holden, but another actor of the same name who made 20 movies between 1920 and 1931, and he died the next year, which was 7 years before the more famous William Holden made his first movie!), Louis Natheaux, George E. Stone, Ray Turner, Gladden James, Bob Kortman, and Blue Washington NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this jumbo lobby card has surface scuffs across much of the image (including some in Barthelmess' face), which may not show in our images. Also note that the scuffs can only be seen when the card is tilted to the light. When looked at straight on, you do not see them. Condition: very good. This vintage movie paper item (or related movie memorabilia) is in from somewhat lesser condition (what most collectors might call "good to very good" or "good") to clearly lesser condition (what some collectors might call "fair"). The item offered here has defects typical of many items that are forty to ninety years old, and some are mainly only in the borders or on the covers (if it is an item with multiple pages), so it is likely that the item can still be displayed and enjoyed. Please look at our "super-sized" image, as it will greatly help you know what condition this item is in! But also remember that some of these items have defects that may not be seen from our images (either because we did not photograph every part of the item, or because they are the sort of defect that is not easily seen). Please do not bid on this item unless you can accept the defects that it has! But also know that we were extremely harsh in grading these items we are currently selling, because we wanted our buyers to be at least satisfied when they received their purchase, and possibly overjoyed! We downgraded many items to this lower condition grade (especially sheet music) because they had defects that are enough that we would not grade them as "very good", but we would still think many collectors would be happy with those items. If our super-sized image seems to be in nicer condition than you would expert the item to be in, know that it is likely a result of our having graded these items so harshly!
