An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Queen of the Mob, the 1940 James P. Hogan wanted-criminal gangster crime thriller ("Based on J. Edgar Hoover's book 'Persons in Hiding'"; based on the novel 'Persons in Hiding' by J. Edgar Hoover, long-time head of the FBI; about an older lady who is the head of a gang of crooks; she is based on the real life "Ma Barker", but the names were changed in the movie, no doubt to protect the innocent) starring Ralph Bellamy, Blanche Yurka (in the title role as Ma Webster), J. Carrol Naish, Jeanne Cagney (billed as "Jean Cagney"), William Henry, Richard Denning, Paul Kelly, and James Seay. Note that Blanche Yurka is best remembered for playing the evil Madame De Farge in 1935's "A Tale of Two Cities", and she matched that performance in this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had fine surface paper loss on parts of some folds and a tiny bit of paper loss above the woman's eyebrow at center. It had some scuffs and tears in the bottom center, extending into the credits. It had pinholes, tears, and some stains in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
