An Unfolded Canadian Special Poster (measures 13" x 17" [33 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) Le Sida Circule Toujours, the 1990s Canadian poster created to educate people about the consequences of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) which causes AIDS (Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome) and how to protect themselves from the disease. Note that when AIDS gripped the world in 1981, local authorities, healthcare providers and governments quickly created health posters as a way to inform people about the new disease. These public health campaigns continued for over 20 years and still endure in some parts of the world today. The posters show the different tactics, images (some quite provocative) and messages used by various countries and health agencies in their attempts to educate people about the AIDS/HIV threat. The number of people with HIV in Canada (prevalence) is increasing. According to 2016 national HIV estimates: There were an estimated 63,110 Canadians with HIV at the end of 2016. This represents an increase of 2,945 people (5%) since 2014. The HIV prevalence rate is 173 per 100,000 people living in Canada. HIV prevalence increased during the 1980s, slowed down in the mid-1990s, but began to rise again in the late 1990s. This increase is a result of both new HIV infections and fewer deaths due to effective treatment options. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good to fine. The poster has never been folded and it is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
