An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Little Wild Girl, the 1928 Frank S. Mattison silent Canada romantic love triangle melodrama ("A Hercules Production"; a wild story of a playwright and a songwriter who vacation in the Canadian Northwest, and they both fall in love with a beautiful French Canadian girl, and after a fire kills her father and her boyfriend, they bring her back to New York, where she becomes a Broadway star, but it turns out her boyfriend was only badly burned, and ultimately, she ends up back home with him, and he is fully recovered) starring Lila Lee, Cullen Landis, Bud Shaw, Frank Merrill, Boris Karloff (who is 5th billed!), Sheldon Lewis, Jimmy Aubrey, and Cyclone (the German Shepherd dog!). Note that Boris Karloff had been appearing in movies since 1919, but with very limited success (he had few credited roles, and he often played exotic parts like pirates or Indians). This was one of his first credited roles! Also note that Cyclone the Dog was a German Shepherd that was apparently intended to be Pathe's answer to Rin-Tin-Tin, but he only appeared in this movie and in "The Yellow Cameo", made the same year. We do not know why his career was so limited (perhaps he retired to "pursue other interests" or to "spend more time with his family"!). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that it is very difficult to find lobby cards from the movies Boris Karloff made in the 1920s, because he mostly played very minor roles, and was not prominently pictured in any of the advertising. Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Note that this card also has a stamp on the back that indicates it came from the legendary horror/sci-fi collection of Ron Borst (the stamp reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Ronald V. Borst")! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. There is a faint brown stain running down the right border, with slight darkening on parts of three borders, and a tiny bit of paper loss in three blank corners. Other than the defects described above, the card is in pretty nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
