An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (Learn More) Albert, R.N. (released as in the U.S. in 1955 as "Break to Freedom" and as "Marlag 'O' Prison Camp"), the 1953 Lewis Gilbert English World War II (WWII) military POW (prisoner of war) prison camp escape thriller ("You'll hold your breath... clench your fists... and pray!"; "Prisoners of hatred... Jealousy... Lust.... with one thought... Escape!"; "On the screen for the first time the gripping, amazing story of how prisoners of war escaped from dreaded Stalag 'O' - the Alcatraz of prison camps!"; "Based on the play by Guy Morgan and Edward Sammis"; about English POWs in World War II and how they ingeniously create a very realistic life sized dummy that they use to cover one of the prisoner's escape, and they are able to fool the guards for days after the escape, thus giving him precious time to escape from Germany!) starring Anthony Steel, Jack Warner, Robert Beatty, William Sylvester, Michael Balfour, and Anton Diffring. Note that this movie (the "R.N." in the title stands for "Royal Navy") is only remembered by major film buffs, but that is sad, because it is one of the first of the World War II POW escape movies (it came just 8 years after the end of the war), and surely helped inspire "The Great Escape", which was made 10 years later.
