A Linenbacked French Travel Poster (measures 24 1/2" x 39 1/4" [62 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) French National Railroads (Societe Nationale Des Chemins De Fer Francais or S.N.C.F.), the French travel poster ("For traveling in France the railway is the right way"; "Visit France by train"; "Discover France by train") made by the S.N.C.F to encourage travel by the French National Railroad. Each poster features a wonderful image or art of one of the many locations that the railroad visits. The SNCF was founded in 1938 with the nationalization of France's main railway companies. Artist: Albert Brenet Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had some darkening in the bottom one-third of the left blank border, with some small tears in that area. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed with no restoration, but after it was backed, it acquired creases scattered across the top 2" of the poster (and also in the excess linen above it) and a lesser number of creases in the bottom 1" of the poster.
