An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 5 1/4" x 6 1/2" [13 x 17 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More)

Shadows, the 1922 Tom Forman silent Chinatown romantic religious blackmail melodrama (adapted from the "famous prize story 'Ching Ching Chinaman' by Wilbur Daniel Steele"; about a Chinese man who is shipwrecked and ends up in a deeply Christian town, and he is shunned, because he is a "heathen", so he converts to Christianity) starring Lon Chaney Sr. (playing a Chinese man, in heavy makeup), Marguerite De La Motte, Harrison Ford (not the same Harrison Ford that we know as an actor today, but a very popular leading man of the 1920s), John St. Polis, and Walter Long. Note that the advertising for this movie included the classic three monkeys with the "see no evil, hear no evil, say no evil", and they claim that this originated in the "Far East", where this was the symbol of "The Golden Rule".

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this herald, and that was 8 years ago. That example has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned!
