An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Paradiso Terrestre (released in the U.S. in 1960 as "Ritual of Love"), the 1957 Luciano Emmer & Robert Enrio French/Italian seven continents documentary ("Uninhibited as nature itself!";"Unbelievable...but true! Never before such strange, sensuous sights!";"Man meets woman and the ritual of love begins...";"See the frenzied rites celebrating the union of lovers!";"See the bride anoint her body with sacred love oil!";"See the pre-nuptial ordeal of the maidens!"). This is a fascinating movie. 27 explorers and 60 cameramen went on seven different expeditions to the continents of the world (including Antarctica), and they brought back footage from all their travels, which were combined together into this documentary by Luciano Emmer. Unfortunately for them, the American distributor they found for the movie, Pacemaker Pictures of New York City, felt that the only way to "sell" the movie was to present it as a sexploitation film, and they focused on the Tahiti portion of it and used the many lurid taglines described above! We have only auctioned U.S. and French material from this documentary, and the French material treated it the same way. We don't know if it received a serious "straight" release anywhere!
