An Original Vintage Theatrical Streamer Cut-Out Movie Display (entire package measures 17 3/4" x 21 3/4", comprising of nine pieces that range in size from 5 1/4" x 8 1/2" up to 17" x 42 1/4") (Learn More) The Buccaneer, the 1938 Cecil B. DeMille seafaring Navy Naval sailor military biographical pirate romantic adventure melodrama ("Based on an adaptation by Jeanie Macpherson of 'Lafitte the Pirate' by Lyle Saxon"; a highly fictionalized biography of the famous 18th century pirate Jean Lafitte, who operated for many years off of New Orleans, but because he did not attack any American ships, he was somewhat tolerated by the American government) starring Fredric March (as Jean Lafitte), Franciska Gaal, Akim Tamiroff, Margot Grahame, Walter Brennan, Ian Keith, Anthony Quinn, Douglass Dumbrille, Beulah Bondi, Robert Barrat, and Evelyn Keyes (making her debut in a tiny role). Note that all of the U.S. posters for this movie that have art have really distinctive art. All of it is by an artist named "Dan Sayre Groesbeck". But several of the posters are unsigned, and others are signed with only parts of his name, and in different ways (perhaps the artist was just being "playful"). Groesbeck worked for DeMille creating his concept art and some of his poster art from the early 1920s until he passed away in 1950! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a really cool original 1938 "streamer cut out display" that was a special advertising promotion for this movie. The way this display was used was that the theater took a clothesline and draped the mirror image pieces over the clothesline so that they appeared on both sides of it, with the title area in the center, of course, and the smaller pieces to the outside. We have never seen one of these displays before, and would not have known what it was called or how it was used, except that the original bag has its name on it has its name on it, and has a small picture that show how it is to be displayed! Since the pieces of the display are on very fragile paper, it is certain that only an unused one could possibly survive, and we strongly doubt that very many, if any of these, survive from any movies of the 1930s! Note that this display will need to be sent in a very large flat package that measures approximately 20" x 24" x 1" high, so please bear the shipping costs of this very large package in mind BEFORE you place a bid! Condition: good. It appears that one of the small pieces may be incomplete, and many of the pieces have some small tears and very tiny paper loss on parts of the edges. The bag is torn down both sides. Learn More about condition grades
