An Original 1958 (from the first release of this movie in Poland) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Polish Movie Poster (23x33; measures 23" x 32 3/4" [58 x 83 cm]) (Learn More) L'assassin Habite... Au 21 (released in English-speaking countries as "The Murderer Lives at Number 21"), the 1942 Henri-Georges Clouzot French detective mystery comedy (about a detective who discovers that a serial killer is living in a boarding house, so he rents a room in the boarding house in order to discover who the killer is, but his girlfriend rents a room as well, trying to protect him!) starring Pierre Fresnay, Suzy Delair, Jean Tissier, Pierre Larquey, and Noel Roquevert. Note that director Clouzot had mostly been a screenwriter since 1931, directing just three movies during that time, but with this movie, he launched his full time directing career. With this movie, he was very consciously imitating Hitchcock, adding comedy to his suspense, and it was not altogether successful, and after this movie, he never repeated that effort, making some of the most suspenseful movies ever, including "The Wages of Fear" and "Les Diaboliques" (and Alfred Hitchcock was very much his rival in making suspense movies during those years, and narrowly lost buying the rights to "Les Diaboliques" when Clouzot bought them just hours ahead of him!). The poster had minor wear on the folds and some creases and very tiny tears in small parts of the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
